Growth estimate 2 - Romney Quartet

A group of prominent economists who back Romney released a 'White Paper' to provide backing for the candidate's proposals. In the Appendix they cite several studies that they claim support the view that 'fundamental tax reform' would boost growth by between 0.5 and 1 percent.

The economist's interpretation of the work of the cited researchers has been disputed - see opposing node.

Also the Appendix cites a study by John Diamond that was relied on by Harvey Rosen in his analysis defending the Romney plan. Alan Auerbach, who co-authored two of the other studies cited in the Appendix, is quoted drawing attention to the problems with using Diamond's simulation to model the effect of the Romney proposals (follow the cross-link).
