The range of supported housing that is supposed to be on offer varies widely. Some takes the form of high-support hostels, with staff living on site, or smaller shared units, with support workers coming in but not living on the premises. Much of this kind of accommodation and support is provided by voluntary organizations. Other forms of support may be offered to people in accommodation provided by Registered Social Landlords. Having helped to resettle people, ‘floating support’ workers help them to protect their tenancies by keeping them in touch with treatment, steering them towards daytime activities and so on.
