Population Control

It is now very apparent that the first world erred in managing their population, i.e., they have been shortsighted not to factor in the need for demographic working force replacement.  What should be our policy for population control?

Demographic gift is the correct balance between the retiring segment and the new labor force that would be replacing them.  Most, if not all the G8 nations missed this and have been criticizing countries like the Philippines for their population growth.  However, their social security systems are now stressed from this lack of foresight.

The Catholic church, all the while, have been saying that it is wrong to artificially control population.  In fact, the word demographic gift comes from the religious sector or more specifically from Opus Dei's Dr. Bernard Villegas.

Is population growth a non-issue?  Should balancing the demographic gift be the policy issue now?
