Previous warmer periods caused by factors not present now

While there have been times in the Earth's history when it was warmer than now—eg the last interglacial (125,000 years ago) and Pliocene (3m years ago)—those periods were caused by factors such as solar forcing, the Earth's orbital wobbles or continental configurations that don't apply now.
