Protecting the global environment will have immediate benefits for health, welfare and livelihoods.


Health is a key goal of the green economy. Health benefits – less disease, less child death, less premature mortality – can be achieved through eradicating poverty, improving food security, sound water management, universal access to green energy services, sustainable cities and greater resilience and disaster preparedness.

Scientists must receive support in providing the evidence base for good environmental decision making.
