Colonialism: division of the world’s population into “we” and “them”. “We” represented civilized and “them” the uncivilized, barbaric and primitive. Portrayal of benevolent coloniser legitimatised extreme exploitation and abuses colonised nations and peoples suffered under colonial rule.
