Hegemonic masculinity: masculine characteristics favoured

In western culture and language, adjectives associated with masculinity ( strong, rational, prudent, active, objective) & femininity (weak, irrational, impulsive, passive, subjective) = dichotomous pairs of mutually exclusive characteristics. "masculine" side valued more highly than the "feminine".
