Loss of National Focus on the Needs of the Poor
I feel that we can help the deserving poor if we made this more of a national issue than a state issue.
"Although some believethat the federal government is best suited to perform these functions because of it's large recenue base and it's ability to treat recipients equally regardless of the state in which they live, the trend over the pst twenty-five years has been toward greater state control of social welfare programs. One danger in this shift is the loss of national focus on the needs of the poor."
