Head in the clouds

Westminster Suite, 4th Floor

Cloud computing is seen by many as offering many enticing opportunities for individuals, companies and governments. In addition to reducing operational costs, cloud technologies have become the basis for radical business innovation and new business models—as well as providing enhanced access to IT services.

But like any new technology advancement, cloud computing also creates disruptive possibilities and potential risks. This event, run by the International Chamber of Commerce UK, will look at:

  • the opportunities presented by cloud technologies
  • policy and regulatory challenges raised by the cloud (including security and jurisdiction issues);
  • principles for cloud policy making - do we need 'cloud-specific' legislation?
  • the opportunities to maximise the potential of cloud for businesses, consumers and governments.

Chair: Steven Pattinson Chief Executive Officer, International Chamber of Commerce, London

Speakers:

  • David Pollington, Director of International Security Relations, Microsoft
  • Robert Marcus, Chief Executive Officer, Quantumwave Capital
  • Jeff Peel, Managing Director, Quadra Consulting

Virtual Taskforce

St James Suite, 4th Floor

The scale, pace and fragmented nature of development in the digital world means that any single organisation is likely to be lagging behind. This is critically important when it comes to securing the digital infrastructures upon which any modern economy depends. Increasingly we see a desire to share information and insight amongst private sector and government organisations as the only way to gain safety in the digital world. This session will illustrate some of the views and approaches prevalent in the UK.

This interactive session will discuss the solutions that may be required to enable business to take advantage of cyber opportunity in a safe way.

Chair: Gordon Morrison Director, Defence & Security, Intellect, London
