Minds are mechanical

The human mind can be fully explained by mathematical principles. Because the laws of nature are the same everywhere, the same method should be used to study the mind as is used to study bodies.

By providing a "geometric" theory of emotions and the mind, human behaviour can be shown to be mechanical in the same way that physical bodies are.

Benedict Spinoza (1674).
