9 April 1948: Deir Yassin

Irgun/Lehi militant groups attacked an arab outpost at a village near Jerusalem that was staging attacks on Jewish convoys to the city. Many villagers were killed in the attack. Arab leaders spread lies about the attack, including the rape of women, causing many people to flee.
