29 Nov 1947: UN Partition of Palestine

On 29 November 1947 the UN General Assembly voted to partition Palestine into separate Jewish and Palestinian states; giving 56.5% of Palestine to the Jewish state and 43.5% to the Palestinians. The plan was not implemented, following its rejection by the Palestinian representatives.
