Maternal and Infant Mortality (AFR)

UNICEF reports that more than 500,000 die in child birth or from complications during pregnancy in Africa each year. "A woman in sub-Sahara Africa has a 1:16 chance of dying during pregnancy or child birth, compared to 1:4,000 chance in developed countries" it is reported.
