Purpose: Enabling wireless innovation in key sectors beyond telecoms

To identify a set of "Stakeholder recommendations” to ensure the possibility of spectrum access to enable Europe to achieve the full economic and social benefits from wireless innovation in key sectors beyond telecoms (for example, in the fields of eHealth, Transport and Smart Grids).

More and more applications rely on wireless capabilities. In order to ensure that spectrum access is not a bottleneck for wireless innovation, DAE stakeholders and spectrum policy makers need to develop a common understanding about the spectrum needs but also to better understand how technology opportunities can be leveraged best. In this sense, the workshop participants have identified spectrum priorities in the fields of eHealth, Transport and Smart Grids as examples outside of wireless broadband and agreed on recommendations on the next steps needed to take full advantage of wireless innovation in these sectors.
