The death penalty is a better deterrent than prison sentences
Common sense informs us that most people would prefer to remain out of jail, and that the threat of public humiliation is enough to deter some people, that a sentence of 20 years will deter most people than a sentence of two years, that a life sentence will deter most would-be criminals more than a senrence of 20 years. I think we have commonsense evidence that the death penalty is a better deterrent than prison sentences.
