Emotions necessary for thought

Only systems that can be in emotional states can be said to think.

Emotional experience is necesary for thought. The only entities that can possess human abilities are ones that can act on basis of felt emotions. No mechanism can feel anything. Therefore machines can't possess human abilities, in particular the ability to think. Geoffrey Jefferson, 1949.
