Final Cause

Our purpose for co-creating and maintaining this graph is to participate in efforts to improve society's ability to deliberate on complex, urgent, frequently wicked issues.

A Premise

Our premise is simply this:

Conversation is the primary way in which humans have always deliberated on complex issues.  Extreme polarization and declining behavioral patterns suggest that there is an opportunity to improve the ways in which we deliberate.

A Working Hypothesis

Elsewhere, we talk about the need to co-evolve humans and the collaborative software tools they use.

Our hypothesis is that it is now possible to adapt or to fabricate software artifacts which will not just augment society's conversations, but also support human improvement in conversational literacy.

Goals for this Graph

Elsewhere, we describe Theory U as a framework for our efforts.  There, we show how Sensemaking precedes Decision Making and Action.

Sensemaking entails gaining  a solid understanding of some situation.  This graph is one of many ways to explore and understand the context in play.

Decision Making means making decisions on ways forward, which, in many cases, means the design and fabrication of new software entities, or the the adaptation of existing ones to suit the goals established in the decision making process.
