We have spent more than 25 years working on climate change, including as part of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, and working with companies and agencies around the world.  We have come to see action on climate change as a massive communications problem, where decision-makers of all kinds are not finding the information that would significantly influence their decision-making.  There are many reasons for that, and our goal with this Debategraph and our massive Climate Web knowledge management system is to explore whether we can help overcome those barriers. There certainly is no shortage of climate information - the problem is getting the right information to the right person at the right time - their "actionable knowledge."

We have made this Climate Change Decision-Making DebateGraph public so as to encourage discussion and participation.  In order to understand what constitutes "actionable knowledge" for specific individuals and audiences we have to engage with those audiences.  

That said, this Map is not intended as a place to debate climate change (I'd suggest the Anthropogenic Climate Change DebateGraph for that).  We buy into the idea that while everyone is entitled to their own opinion, they're not entitled to their own facts.  When facts and opinion start to be seen as equivalent, it's almost impossible to have any kind of productive conversation.  And since it's productive conversation we're looking for, that's how we'll moderate the Map.
