The PM debate map is open to public view and editing now, with the objectives of:

  • building a comprehensive map of the wider public debate stimulated by the Prime Minister's speech, drawing together all of the arguments raised in the debate clearly and fairly so that everyone has chance to see the debate as a whole and to understand how the positions they hold exist within that debate;
  • experimenting with the process of engaging other people in the collaborative construction of online debate maps.

The PM explains Our Nation's Future lecture series:

"The speeches I am making under the banner "Our Nation's Future" share one aim.

I want to launch a real debate about the big challenges which we as a country face in the years ahead. These are issues which matter not just in the short term, but over the next ten or twenty years, or even longer. Some are subjects which already have a high profile. Others sometimes do not get the attention they deserve.

In each case, I am setting out the problems as I see them, posing the questions I believe we need to tackle, and giving my views on the direction we as a nation should take. But most importantly, by giving these speeches I want to start a debate in which people right across Britain can get involved.

I don't pretend to have all the answers myself, and people may disagree with my views.

I hope that they will think about the issues themselves and bring their own ideas to the debate.

The vital thing is that we face these future challenges together, and make the right choices, so Britain remains a successful country in the decades to come."

                                                                                      Tony Blair.
